Profile

Dr Ian Phoon is the chairman of the cardiovascular workgroup for Singhealth Polyclinics since 2011. He has a keen interest in the management of Diabetes, Hypertension, and Hyperlipidemia.

He was a member of the 2017 MOH Clinical Practice Guideline Hypertension Workgroup.

He was a guest speaker at the 2019 Family Medicine Review Course on the use of insulin in the treatment of diabetes

He is the Program Manager for the Singapore Healthcare Improvement Network (SHINe) for Singhealth Polyclinics, from 2014 to 2019, and had worked to reduce hypoglycaemia due to anti-diabetic drugs, through quality improvement. This project won the Singhealth Target zero Harm – Team Award, in October 2018.

He is also a Chief Instructor for BLCS, CPR and AED for Singhealth Polyclinics.

In July 2018, he was one of a handful of SHP staff that participated in the MOH Disaster Medical Responder’s Course (BASIC), which included a simulated a mass casualty civil disaster at Changi Airport.
