Dr Derek Choong is a Consultant Family Physician at SingHealth Polyclinics (SHP). He is currently the Deputy Clinic Director at Tampines North Polyclinic, providing clinical and administrative leadership to the healthcare team. As part of the pioneering team for a new polyclinic, his leadership was instrumental in its development and operationalisation.
Dr Choong has an interest in osteoporosis care in the community. He is a member of the SHP Musculoskeletal Workgroup and clinician lead for osteoporosis in SHP, overseeing the development of clinical guidelines and workflows to improve osteoporosis management in primary care. He serves as the Co-chairperson of the Agency for Care Effectiveness Osteoporosis Expert Group. He is also a Project Consultant with the Crisis Strategy & Operations Group, Ministry of Health.
As a keen educator, Dr Choong is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. He is actively involved in clinical education for both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Family Medicine.
