Profile

Dr Richard graduated from National University of Singapore in 1986 and holds the Graduate Diploma in Occupational Medicine, Graduate Diploma of Acupuncture, and Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine.

He is a registered Family Physician, Designated Factory Doctor (DFD) and certified acupuncturist with TCMB.

He had worked and gained vast experiences having served in various institutions.

Jurong Community Hospital from 2013 to 2016 as the Principal Resident Physician, being an active participant of various workgroups in setting up a cluster community hospital.

He worked in both private and public sectors including industrial in-house clinics to outpatient clinics in both the business district and residential areas.

He was also a past Clinical Director in Occupational Medicine in a leading private medical group practice in Singapore and a past Head in health screening, weight management, management of medical affairs and medico-legal issues in a private hospital.

He was the Senior Resident Physician in the Department of Urology in a tertiary public health institution, with special interest in Men's Health and providing acupuncture therapy for chronic urological pain conditions.

He is a registered acupuncturist with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Board, a Designated Factory Doctor with the Ministry of Manpower and is an accredited Family Physician.

He is currently an associate member of the Singapore Urological Association.

He has incorporated acupuncture therapy as a complementary treatment for chronic pain management as part of the holistic rehabilitation program in Sengkang General Hospital and has initiated acupuncture services for both in-patients as well as outpatient clinic.

He has also written articles for various publications, spoke in various private and public forums and had articles on pain management and acupuncture presented in international conferences in USA.

He continues to provide supervisory assistance for resident doctors in holistic patient care even as he involves himself as part of the team that will build up the clinical component of Sengkang Community Hospital.

He is also involved in providing ward supervision for medical students and clinical teachings.

He will be giving an Oral Presentation in USA in July 2017 on acupuncture incorporated in hospital setting.
