Profile

Dr Nausheen Doctor is a Senior Consultant Emergency Physician at Sengkang General Hospital. She obtained her medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2000 and subsequently worked and received her training in Singapore General Hospital's Emergency Department since 2004.

She is passionate about maintaining high standards of patient care in the department and hospital and is currently involved in quality assurance and quality improvement processes in both domains.

In addition, she also teaches medical officers and residents from various residency programmes, nurses in the department, medical students from the 3 medical schools in Singapore and is an instructor for ACLS, ATLS and other courses.

She strives to empower nurses in her department to take on more active clinical roles with enhanced clinical decision-making capacity.

Her other area of interest is in Cardiac Arrest Care, both by first responders (lay-persons) as well as EMS/medically-trained staff. She was involved in training EMT crews in Dispatcher-assisted CPR as well as High-Performance CPR and has seen the improvement in survival these interventions has made. She hopes to be able to bring HP-CPR to the in-hospital setting as well. She partakes in some EMS research and is a member of the PAROS clinical research network.

As Director of Prehospital Emergency Care, and in her capacity in MOH, she oversees the training and professional development of paramedics in Singapore, both in the public and private sector, and works to elevate emergency care provided in the field beyond international benchmarks as well as to enhance the capabilities and profession of paramedicine in Singapore and the region.
