Profile

Dr Joel Lim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Adult Reconstruction Orthopaedic surgery. He graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in 2011 and was awarded the Khong Ban Tze Medal (Best Student in Orthopaedic Surgery in the Final MBBS Examination). He was admitted to the SingHealth Residency in 2011 and obtained his Masters of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2019. He was subsequently appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Orthopaedic Surgery) in 2020.

Dr Joel specialises in advanced complex adult reconstruction surgeries and spent a large amount of his training with the SGH Adult Reconstruction Team. In 2023, he was the first and only Singaporean surgeon to be awarded the Ling hip fellowship at the world renowned Exeter Hip Unit, United Kingdom. Having spent one year at the birthplace of the world’s most implanted cemented hip replacement, Dr Joel was mentored to perform muscle sparing total hip replacement, complex and revision hip arthroplasty surgeries. Dr Joel’s practice involves the utilisation of evidence-based robotic technology to aid in performing highly accurate surgeries for best clinical outcomes. His practice interests include minimally invasive hip & knee reconstructive surgeries and joint preserving surgeries.

On top of his clinical duties, Dr Joel has presented at numerous international, regional and local conferences including multiple presentations at the prestigious American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Annual Meetings. He has published papers in high impact factor journals such as the Bone & Joint Journal and Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy.
