Profile
Dr. Alvin Lee is an Associate Consultant Urologist at the Department of Urology, Singapore General Hospital. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, in 2015, where he was recognised on the Dean’s List and awarded the Second Mekie Book Prize (second top performing surgery candidate) and Distinction in Surgery.
Throughout his residency training with SingHealth, Dr. Lee was appointed the Chief Resident and was awarded Outstanding Resident Award on multiple occasions. He was awarded the European Board of Urology (EBU) Book Prize by the Singapore Urological Association in 2022 for being the top-scoring candidate. He completed his specialist training and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (FAMS), as well as the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) (Urology).
Dr. Lee’s subspecialty clinical interests are in uro-oncology and minimally-invasive surgery. Dr. Lee has published extensively on prostate cancer diagnosis (prostate-specific antigen and prostate biopsy), including first-author publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, including British Journal of Urology International and Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases. He was awarded the Singhealth Publish! Award (2021) for his academic achievements.
Dr. Lee is experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of many urological symptoms such as renal colic (flank pain), lower urinary tract symptoms and gross haematuria (blood in the urine) that may be caused by underlying urological conditions such as benign prostate hyperplasia (enlargement), urinary stone disease and cancers of the urinary tract. Dr. Lee's dedication to providing exceptional patient care has been recognised with several awards, including the Singapore Health Quality Service Award (Silver) in 2023, multiple Service with a Heart awards (2022 and 2023) and the Service Excellence Award (2023).
