"Educating caregivers and patients during home visits has its share of ups and downs. Some are not receptive to making changes to their lifestyles, and some would even refuse to learn how to change their wound dressings.
I persist on despite their resistance and after subsequent visits, they start to learn and become competent. What really makes the effort worthwhile is seeing their wounds heal. The smiles on their faces and words of appreciation give me a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. Being a home care nurse allows me to do even more for my patients and caregivers – I can be their teacher or resource person when they are in need of help."
