"I have been a diagnostic computed tomography (CT) Radiographer for 10 years. My work involves scanning patients in various clinical settings and providing the doctors essential information on what is happening in the patient’s body. This allows them to treat the patient in a timely manner.
Some people think that Radiographers are doctors or nurses. I even have a few friends who thought that I work in a radio station! There are also some people who think that the Radiographer’s job involves pushing buttons only. What they do not know is that behind every scan, it takes a lot of physics and mathematical calculations to ensure that the patient is properly imaged.
During the early days of my career, I encountered an ICU patient who regularly needed medical imaging. Although he eventually passed away due to his illness, he made an effort to thank me and my team for the effort that we take to help him every day. Till this day, he remains a constant reminder to me to treat every patient as a unique individual and to give them our best."
