“I was a polyclinic nurse for 28 years. My interest in research began when I was at Pasir Ris Polyclinic helping Dr Tan Ngiap Chuan, the Clinic Director, conduct research studies. After retiring from nursing in 2013, I decided to pursue this interest and joined SHP’s Research department as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
For this role, I help to identify suitable patients and ask if they are keen to participate in various SHP research projects. Although rejection can be disheartening at times, I feel a sense of achievement when I see the results from research studies, knowing that I played a part in it. After all, what I do is for patients and this makes the hard work worthwhile.”
