​“After my husband had a heart attack, we were told that he only had one year to live. I felt so helpless because I couldn’t do anything to help him. That was when I told myself, if I couldn’t help my husband, let me help others who are in need.

So in 2008, I enrolled for the nursing course at the Institute of Technical Education. At 49, I was the oldest student in class! I struggled with biology but my son coached me. I did well enough to be offered a scholarship! Thankfully, in that same year, my husband successfully battled his illness.

I strongly believe that prevention is better than cure, so I started volunteering at the Tzu Chi Free Health Screening Centre since 2013. This was what my father taught me - Share what you have, and give what you can.”
