MAD Hike (Move Against Diabetes)

5 August to 30 September 2020

Diabetes is the fourth most common condition among polyclinic patients, with 1 in 9 Singapore residents aged 18 to 69 years affected by the condition.

COVID-19 has taken a heavy toll on livelihoods and affected many of our polyclinics’ patients, especially those with diabetes and other chronic conditions that require long-term treatments.

On the eve of Singapore’s National Day, the MAD (Move Against Diabetes) Physio Team consisting of 5 physiotherapists from Punggol, Bedok and Tampines Polyclinic raised funds for the needy patients across 8 SingHealth Polyclinics* through a 55km-hike around Singapore, passing by all SingHealth polyclinics, incl. head office and the upcoming Eunos Polyclinic. Joining them partially were another 3 teams of doctors, dentists, nurses and administrators from Punggol Polyclinics.

Being at the frontline of primary healthcare services, we witness many patients with no means to pay for the essential medical treatments they need. This National Day, as we continue our fight against COVID-19 and keep the communities safe, we hope to play a part in helping some our needy fellow Singaporeans.

Support the MAD Hike now! Make a pledge of $5, $10, $55 or any amount for every kilometre the MAD Teams hike.

Your donations will enable disadvantaged patients of SingHealth Polyclinics to receive the medical care they need.
